Teamwork was the theme for JASY Camp today and it was definitely seen all throughout the volunteers and campers. We all worked together and made today an even bigger success than yesterday. Some of the campers were even joining along and teaching teamwork to the other campers on their team.

Mary Frazier, one of the Red Team Ambassadors, wanted to share an act that highlighted teamwork within the Red Team:

"Yesterday, we came up with a team name and chant - The Red Dragons:

'We are the Dragons!

Yes we are a braggin'!

We bring di fiyah!

We will inspire!

Cause WE ARE THE DRAGONS!'

So, today collectively as a team we proudly yelled our chant as we walked station to station. Throughout the day, our team had worked well together. The kids competed with each other and the losing team congratulated the winning team despite the loss. The kids even reminded each other about how important teamwork is! However, at the Football station, wee had one teammate teasing another in their dialect. I did not understand but another teammate overheard and said, 'We are supposed to work on teamwork today, not disappointing each other!' That melted my heart to see this young girl stick up for a friend and one of the most important JASY themes. These kids are truly amazing and I am blessed to be working with the Red Dragons!

Two days into JASY Camp and having been with the campers for around ten hours, we have already seen the growth and transformation of some of our campers. Adam Moran, one of the Blue Team Ambassadors, has seen that transformation with his campers and wanted to share a story:

"The transformation that we have seen over the brief time that we have had with the campers has been extraordinary. The difference between one of our campers in particular from day one to the end of day two was especially impressive. This camper went from being one of the main problems on our team to someone who team leaders can rely on when the other members of the group are not engaged or listening to direction. This was mainly due to the communication between individual team, and camp leaders to help correct the problem and spark a change in attitude, which would not have been possible without the bonding volunteers have experienced in the first few days of our trip.

Tomorrow's theme for JASY Camp is joy - the day will be full of invigorating and infectious among all of the volunteers and campers (so be sure to check back tomorrow night for the pictures)!
